What started as a one-man setup in the Waikato has grown into a trusted DJ hire brand across New Zealand. We've DJ'd countless weddings, brought life to school balls, and helped Kiwi businesses host slick corporate events and Christmas parties.
At My Event DJ we're a passionate team of experienced DJs and professional event-hire pros based in Hamilton, serving Auckland, Tauranga, Coromandel, Taupo, Rotorua and everywhere in between. The point of every booking is the same: keep your dancefloor full and your stress levels low.

Where are you based?
Hamilton, in the Waikato. We're on the road most weekends, Auckland, Coromandel, Bay of Plenty, Rotorua, Taupo, and out to the rural venues other companies turn down.
How long have you been doing this?
My Event DJ launched in 2018 and we've DJ'd 450+ weddings on top of every other event type since. Chris (the founder) was DJing in the Waikato for over a decade before that, so the experience predates the brand.
How many DJs are in the team?
We're a small, hand-picked team of 6 DJs covering different regions and styles. Small enough that we know every gig that's on the calendar and pair you with the right DJ for your event, big enough that we never have to say no on a busy Saturday.
Do you do non-wedding events?
Yes. Roughly half our work is non-wedding: corporate Christmas parties, school balls, milestone birthdays, engagement parties, brand activations and AV-only support. Same standard of gear and prep regardless of event type.
Are you insured?
Yes, full public liability cover. We'll send the certificate to your venue or coordinator on request, most schools and corporate venues ask for it as standard.
What's your music library like?
Wide. Sixty years of pop, rock, R&B, hip hop, country, NZ classics, dance, house, throwbacks, plus the current chart. You build your playlist and "do not play" list in our online planner before the event. If you've got a song that's not on streaming, send us the file and we'll bring it.
How far in advance should I book?
Saturdays in peak wedding season (Jan, Feb, March, plus December for Christmas parties) regularly book out 6–12 months ahead. Off-peak we can sometimes hold a date with a few weeks' notice. If your date matters more than the package, message us first and we'll tell you straight if it's available.
How does the booking process work?
Quick form on the contact page, we reply with a quote and a hold on your date within a day or two. Lock it in with a deposit, build out your music in our planner, pre-event call two weeks out, then we show up and run the night. No back-and-forth, no surprises.
